Cut-tear-curl (CTC) The processing has three stages (crush or cut, tear, curl). The tea leaves may be either hand plucked or harvested by machinery. The leaves are then processed through the CTC machine, have a palletised appearance and are always broken sizes. The method is less costly to produce and made a less bulky tea that would brew more quickly and with an even, robust flavour.
